Despite some wild and windy weather in Sydney in the run up to the North Sydney Carnival on Saturday 16-Feb, the event ran with only a smattering of rain as the 232 swimmers arrived at the pool. Anyone still awake at 11.20pm will know how lucky we were when the heavens opened and unleashed.
We had seven individual branch records set at the meet with one being a national record and one branch relay record. Congratulations to Jenny Whitely (2 branch / 1 national record), Alan Brown, Tony Goodwin (2 branch records), Neal Moores and Ryde ‘A’ on their swims
Congratulations also to the Warringah Masters who have continued their run of success at North Sydney, taking home the visitors’ trophy ahead of Manly & Ryde.
Blacktown had the highest average points per swimmer and North Sydney managed to win the overall point score.
Many thanks go to Neil Keele, the Meet referee, and all the officials that gave up their time to support the Carnival and make it run so smoothly; they were ably supported by the many many volunteers that helped out on the evening and in the lead up.
A great night with the only injury being to Buddy our gallant Master of Ceremony in his rush to get to the Pizza!
We look forward to seeing you all again next year at ‘the Best Address on Earth’
