The NSW Relay Carnival is fast approaching on July 9 and the club deadline for your entries is on July 2. Please ensure your pool captain (Christina Echols) has your name down on the list to participate. Remember – this is not about being the fastest swimmer in the pool – it’s about enjoying a lively team atmosphere, getting your feet wet, seeing what a relay &/or a carnival is about, and having FUN!! So, experienced, inexperienced, slow, fast – it doesn’t matter – we want you! We have set a goal to get at least 35 club members participating, so sign up and help us reach the goal. (Note: If you have not paid your 2017 membership fees, you need to do that before entering). You can sign up in 3 ways:
- Sign up in person at the Pizza sign up night on Monday 26 June immediately after swimming in the cafe area. Sign up will also be available on deck on 28 June (Christina) and 1-2 July (Colin).
- Send Christina an email including first & last name, date of birth, and your estimated times for a 50 of each stroke (or a note of which strokes you cannot swim).
- Sign up online on the online entries page.
The club is subsidising the entry fees by $15 per swimmer, so you only need to pay $10. However, it is VERY important to attend and swim all your relays once you have signed up (if you don’t show up, it means 3 other swimmers who do show up don’t get to swim each event you are entered in). Therefore, you will be asked to refund the club reimbursement ($15) if you do not attend the relay meet.
Once all entries have been received, an email will go out to the club in the last few days before the carnival informing you which relays you will be swimming and instructions on how it all works when you get to SOPAC. We will also plan some social time / gathering after the relay carnival, so stay tuned for those details.
