Most of you have already renewed / signed up for your membership for the year at North Sydney. After January 31, if we do not have a record of you having paid your fees, you will be asked not to swim with the club until your membership is up-to-date. We must be strict on this as our insurance coverage is linked to your membership and you are not covered unless signed up. Please refer to the email sent on January 19 from Jen Langoons to see the list of current paid members. If your name is not on that list, please renew now. If you have any problems (e.g. no credit card or paid, but not the list), please contact Jen directly to sort yourself out.

Please plan to stay after our training session on Wednesday (Jan 25) to partake in some pizza (on the club) and enjoy some socialization with your fellow club members outside the pool. We’d like to take this time to also encourage you to sign up to participate in our upcoming North Sydney carnival and/or volunteer to help out on Feb 11. For those that are unfamiliar with what our carnival is all about can check out the program at:
If you are unable to join us on Wednesday, you can still enter – talk to Grant Parr on Monday Jan 23 or enter on-line by clicking on the ‘Enter’ button next to the North Sydney carnival at this link:
Cost of entry is only $20 – cheaper than any ocean swim on the circuit! Please refer to previous emails from Alan Godfrey for BSB details to pay and/or pay cash on deck to Grant Parr on Monday or Louise Laing on Wednesday.
Any other questions, just approach a fellow committee member and/or email me your questions.

Thank you to those that have already committed your time but just a reminder the iconic and historical North Sydney Pool (our home pool) is having it’s 75th Anniversary this year and to help celebrate,  North Sydney Council in conjunction with theBadger Swim School, North Sydney Swimming Club, North Sydney Aussi (North Sydney Masters Swim Club), Ripples Group and the Cancer Council NSW are inviting everyone to take part in the charity swim and help raise money for the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Appeal.

Our aim is to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Appeal and get as many swimmers as possible and turn the pool from glistening blue to Pink.

The swim details are below –

North Sydney Pool

NOTE – The $25.00 all goes to the  Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Appeal.

Please go in and register your details at the below web address and please pass onto your friends, the more the merrier. You can even create your own fundraiser page if you like. Many thanks and look foward to seeing you all at the pool.

Many thanks to the 40 people or so who provided feedback regarding our Friday night vs. Saturday morning session choices. The votes are in and we will begin a trial of Saturday morning sessions beginning October 8. To the loyal Friday followers, we sincerely apologize, but we have to revert to the numbers and the majority on this one. While the votes are in, actions speak louder than words, so we will do this as a 3 month trial and re-assess the choice based on attendance near the end of January. The new schedule is as follows:

Friday Sept 30: 7-8pm – Final Friday evening session
Saturday Oct 8: 10:30am – 12pm – First Saturday morning session
Saturday Oct 15: Training cancelled – please instead join the festivities and help raise money for a good cause at the North Sydney Pool 75th Anniversary Pink Ribbon swim: Details & sign up are here: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/event/nspswim2011 (Morning tea courtesy of Ripples and a pink cap are included!)
Saturday Oct 22: 10:30am-12pm – Resume Saturday morning sessions unless otherwise notified. (Guest coach John Wynberg will be coaching the weekend of Oct 22-23).

Please note that Oct 22-23 are also the NSW State SC Championships in Canberra. Please enter if you are attending (Deadline is Oct 3). (Go on the website under the Calendars tab). We always have a bit of fun when we go out of town, so once all entries are in, we will keep you informed regarding social activities – specifically dinner on Saturday night in bustling Canberra.

Just a quick note to let you all about the next North’s Club Fun Day on Sunday 25 September.

For those who’ve never participated before or who are new to the club, it’s an opportunity to get some race experience without the stress of actual swimming carnival rules and regulations. It’s also an opportunity to see once and for all who actually is the fastest – you or your training Arch-Nemesis!

Over the next few Sundays I will be garnering support for those who wish to attend, so start thinking about which strokes you’d like to try out. Everyone will be able to compete in two fifty metre sprints – so choose two strokes. Everyone who attends will be placed in at least one relay team.

There will also be complimentary food and drink afterwards so ensure you put in your best effort in the pool before gorging on delicious sandwiches.

So, save the date – September 25th!!
Your Member at large,

Luke.
